Esther Xu

Through my work with Chinese migrant women, I’ve seen how language barriers, limited knowledge of the health system, cultural sensitivities and fear can prevent women from accessing preventative healthcare. Even when women want to prioritise their health, something as simple as not knowing where to go, how to book an appointment or being unable to access information in their own language can become significant barriers. I’ve also seen how providing trusted health information in-language and supporting women through the booking process can make a real difference. That’s why creating culturally welcoming spaces like Thrive is so important. They help connect women with trusted health information and services in a way that feels accessible, safe and inclusive.

Thank You For Bringing Thrive To Life

Thrive 2025 was possible because of the women, families, performers, stallholders, partners, volunteers and community organisations who showed up and showed out. From powerful stories on stage to the buzz of the marketplace, you helped turn Federation Square into a living, breathing celebration of multicultural women.
